30 Amputees Skydive to Demonstrate Independence, Hosted by The Amputee and Prosthetic Center of Houston

The Amputee and Prosthetic Center of Houston will sponsor the first Airborne Amputee skydiving event. Over thirty amputees ranging in age from their early 20's to 89 years old will be skydiving. The participants of the Airborne Amputee event represent "regular people" who have never been skydiving but want to demonstrate their independence and illustrate that life is not over after amputation.

Many of the Airborne Amputees are senior citizens and have lost their limbs due to medical complications. They are skydiving to express their independence and show the determination that helped them overcome the obstacles of losing a limb. The thought of skydiving has inspired many amputees to do what they previously thought was unthinkable- even before their amputation. The employees of The Amputee and Prosthetic Center and its parent company TMC Orthopedic donated funds along with several vendors to fund the event for many of the amputees.
